Since Graduation: After high school I attended UNBSJ and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts, followed by a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario in 1998. I returned to Hampton and started working in Customer Service with NBTel Mobility (now Aliant), for what I had thought would be a summer job, to pay some bills and have a little pocket change, until I could begin teaching in the fall. But instead, I stayed on at NBTel and was promoted to management in 2000. Today, I am still with Aliant, currently in the role of Relationship Manager, working with our external partners to provide technical support to our customers across Atlantic Canada. My most recent news is that I was married this past October (2005) to Dave Carroll, a musician who I met, as he would describe it, playing for his supper J, at O’Leary’s Pub in 2002. After a year of running the roads back and forth between Halifax and Saint John, I transferred to Halifax. After our engagement, we bought and settled into home in Waverley, NS. I tell everyone here how much it reminds me of home: located just 20 minutes from the city, nestled along the banks of a chain of long beautiful lakes, vaguely reminiscent of the Kennebecasis River, and the close-knit, down-to-earth-ness of the people. Dave belongs to the volunteer Fire Department, and to show my support, I joined the Ladies Auxiliary last spring. I may be the youngest member ever, but it has been a great way to get to know the area and our neighbours, and learn a thing or two about cooking. |
