10-year Reunion
August 15 & 16, 2003

Hello Hampton High Class of 1993!

The food has been eaten. The beer has been drank. The bills have been paid. The Hampton High School Class of 1993 10-year reunion has drawn to a close. What a fantastic weekend it was! I am sure that all committee members will agree that it was well-worth all the planning, the countless emails and meetings, and phone calls.

Various sources state that an attendance of 10-25% at a 10-year reunion is realistic, so we should be very please that we had almost a 40% attendance. If you were not there . . . don't miss the 25th reunion in 2018.

The Friday night turnout at the High School was a bigger success than expected - several people from in and out of town showed up after previously saying they were not coming. Despite being bombarded with forms and questionnaires, the registration process went very well. Everyone was thrilled to receive their copy of the slide show. Stephen Davidson gave a great speech during the tree planting and we all enjoyed watching him and Pat labour away *smile* The food was wonderful...though I don't think that Holly correctly anticipated our beverage consumption! It was great seeing the staff members that were able to join us...isn't it amazing that we all looked a little older, weighed a little more, and seems a little different, but the staff members looked exactly the same! I think everyone had a great time in the theatre...thanks to Amy for helping me out, Clary Wilbur for his detailed speech and Marcelle and Renee for quizzing us on Class Trivia. The highlight of the evening was without a doubt the slide show. I can't thank Tim Gaines enough for putting the slide show together and for making all the labels and copies.

Saturday afternoon was the family picnic. The ground at Dutch Point Park was soaking wet, so thanks to Jennifer Gendron for her suggestion of moving to the Lower Norton Shore hall. The kids loved getting their faces painted and receiving balloon animals. I understand that there were several classmates who were unable to locate us when we moved. I want to apologize - either the sign that was volunteered didn't get made or fell down.

The Dance at Holly's was another opportunity to reminisce some more and also gave us a chance to meet spouses, girlfriends, and boyfriends. The music was great...though it took a while for the dancing bug to catch on...people were just to busy catching up.

I am happy to report that we broke even...with a little help from a few people *wink*. The Hampton High School Scholarship and Bursary Foundation has received their cheque for $500 (thanks to everyone who registered, bought 50/50 tickets, and to the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre for waiving much of their cancellation fee). Thanks also to: Clary Wilbur and the Faculty and Staff of Hampton High, Hampton save-Easy, Wil Gamble and Minuteman Press, Holly's Restaurant and the Reunion Committee, who are:

Forty-eight hours was just not enough time to get in deep conversations with all but a handful of people. But I hope as a result of the reunion, many of us have reconnected with old friends and perhaps even struck friendships with classmates that we didn't have a chance to know in high school. 15 years is a long time away, so I hope you will all check-up on each other through the website and perhaps we will start an annual electronic newsletter....

Take Care,
Megan
